First Division

Welling Town v Halls AFC

Halls AFC all but secured their First Division status with a dominant 5-0 win at Welling Town, leaving the hosts five points from safety in the penultimate spot.

The visitors took control midway through the first half when James Bayford finished well after good work from Ben Martin. Muraino Banjoko soon doubled the lead, capitalising on defensive hesitation, before turning provider just before the break as Joseph Freeman converted his corner. Halls added a fourth in stoppage time, Bayford setting up Ryan Golding to score against his former club and cap a ruthless first-half display.

Welling showed brief signs of life after the break and even had the ball in the net from a corner, but it was ruled out for a foul. Chances remained limited, with Halls continuing to look the more dangerous side. Late on, Martin got the goal his performance deserved, controlling Sam Doyle’s cross before firing home to make it five.

Martin nearly added another soon after, but Aaron Lee-Wharton produced a fine save to deny him. The result ends Halls’ three-game losing run, while Welling are left needing a strong finish to avoid the drop.
