Saturday August 15
SATURDAY 15 AUGUST
Greenways v Bridon Ropes
SC Thamesmead v Croydon
Stansfeld v Rochester United
Tooting Bec v Lydd Town
Welling Town v Hythe Town
The FA Vase may take much of the limelight this weekend, but there is still plenty of SCEFL First Division action to enjoy, with five league fixtures taking place on Saturday afternoon.
After an entertaining opening weekend, each of Saturday’s matches features a side looking to build on a winning start to the new campaign.
Croydon sit top of the early table following their impressive 4-1 victory at Minster and will look to make it two from two when they travel to SC Thamesmead. The hosts began their season with a point after a goalless draw against Stansfeld on Friday night.
Greenways were another of the opening weekend’s eye-catching winners, returning from Tooting Bec with a 3-0 victory. They now have home advantage as they welcome a Bridon Ropes side looking for their first points following defeat to Staplehurst Monarchs.
One of the most intriguing contests comes at Stansfeld, where Rochester United are the visitors. Stansfeld opened with that draw at SC Thamesmead, while Rochester made an excellent start to their promotion challenge with a convincing 3-0 win against Welling Town.
Hythe Town also began life back in the First Division with three points, grabbing a dramatic late winner at Halls AFC. They now travel to Welling Town, who will be looking for a response after their opening-day defeat at Rochester.
Completing the programme, Lydd Town make another trip on the road when they visit Tooting Bec. Lydd started with a 2-1 victory at FC Elmstead, while the hosts will be hoping to bounce back after their defeat to Greenways.
With five of the opening weekend’s winners in action, Saturday gives us an early opportunity to see who can back up their first result and make it two wins from two.
All five games kick off at 3pm, with match updates available throughout the afternoon via our usual Football Web Pages links.
