It’s a proper Easter Saturday in the First Division – the kind where the table could look very different by tea time, and nobody’s quite safe until the final whistles go.

The standout clash comes at Croydon, where the in-form Trams take on title-chasing AFC Greenwich Borough. Croydon have picked the perfect time to catch fire and know a win here would all but lock in a play-off place. But Borough aren’t in the mood to hand out favours – with the title in sight, this is exactly the sort of game champions have to grind out. It’s form versus pressure, and something has to give.

Leaders SE Dons face a potentially tricky trip to Bridon Ropes. On paper it’s top versus lower reaches, but Bridon are right on the edge of the drop and fighting for their lives. That makes them dangerous. The Dons know anything less than three points could open the door for their title rivals and this one has “banana skin” written all over it.

Rochester United are still clinging on to title hopes, but they’re running out of room for error. Hosting Lewisham Borough, who are battling relegation, this is as must-win as it gets. Rochester need to do their part and hope the sides above them slip – anything less, and the dream probably fades for good.

There’s another big contrast at Welling Town, where desperation meets ambition. Welling are running out of chances and simply have to win to stay alive, while FC Elmstead are watching the play-off pack edge away from them. It’s last-chance territory for both, just at opposite ends of the table.

Chessington & Hook are in a similar position – time is against them, but recent signs suggest they’re not done yet. A home game against Lydd Town gives them a real opportunity to build momentum. Lydd, though, know a win would all but secure their status, so expect a proper scrap rather than a charity donation.

Down at Banstead Athletic, it’s another huge one in the survival fight. Tooting Bec can pretty much declare the job done with a win, while Banstead are still staring at the need for multiple victories. Lose this, and they are in a right scrap.

Lordswood head to Staplehurst Monarchs knowing exactly what’s at stake. A win would strengthen their grip on a play-off spot and edge them closer to the job being done. Staplehurst may be out of the race for honours, but they’ll be keen to play spoiler and finish the season with a bit of pride.

And finally, SC Thamesmead take on Sheppey Sports with confirmed survival in their sights. Six points might be the gap between their current tally and a safe total, so this is one they simply have to take. Sheppey, meanwhile, are comfortable but won’t be easing off – a top-half finish is still very much in their sights.

Eight games, countless storylines, and absolutely no shortage of jeopardy. Exactly what you want from Easter football.
