It was a welcome return to a full Premier Division programme with the recent bad weather unable to disrupt Saturday’s action – and the goals certainly flowed. Across the eight fixtures there were 38 goals, providing plenty of drama at both ends of the table as the promotion race, play-off chase and relegation battle all took fresh twists.

The game of the day produced a seven-goal thriller as Punjab United edged past Larkfield & New Hythe 4-3. Jack Hopkins was the star of the show, firing a devastating quickfire hat-trick inside the opening half hour (14’, 18’, 27’) before Lee Bird added a fourth on 67 minutes. Larkfield fought back bravely through Kesna Clarke (35’) and a Tyler Ibe double (39’, 75’ pen), but Punjab held on to claim a huge three points. The result lifts Punjab back into the play-off conversation in 10th place, while Larkfield’s worrying run continues. The Larks are now six league games without a win and drop to third – their lowest position in four months.

Moving into second place are Fisher, who continued their outstanding run with a 5-0 victory over Hythe Town. Fisher struck twice in the opening minutes (3’, 4’) through Jola Lahan and Lorenzo Duncan to immediately put the hosts in control, before Tom Jones added two more after the break (47’, 58’). Alex Kozak then wrapped things up late in the day. Fisher have now won six consecutive league games and are unbeaten in ten, while Hythe remain deep in relegation trouble, seven points from safety with time beginning to run out.

Bearsted remain fourth but had to settle for a point after a dramatic 3-3 draw at Chislehurst Glebe. The Bears trailed 2-0 at the break before mounting an impressive turnaround that looked set to deliver all three points. However, Jamie Philpot struck his second goal deep into stoppage time to snatch a late equaliser for Glebe. Both sides may feel they could have taken more, but the point keeps Bearsted inside the play-off places while Glebe continue to edge towards safety.

There was another entertaining six-goal contest as Faversham Strike Force drew 3-3 with Tunbridge Wells in a topsy-turvy encounter. Wells struck first through Regan Corke (7’), but Strike Force responded with goals from Mefose Esumobi (33’), Harry Taylor (64’) and Hayden Wood (68’). Just when it looked as though the hosts had secured victory, Wells hit back late on through Rhys Bartlett (82’) before an unfortunate own goal levelled things in the 84th minute. The point keeps Faversham seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Hollands & Blair strengthened their excellent form with a 3-0 win over sorry Stansfeld. Goals from Reece Gillies (10’), Ibrahim Akanbi (58’) and Mo Cham (79’) sealed the victory and made it ten wins from their last twelve league matches. Blair are now firmly looking up the table with the play-offs in sight. For Stansfeld the situation is becoming increasingly desperate – they have just 13 matches remaining and need to win a large portion of them to survive.

Phoenix Sports also produced a statement performance as they defeated Rusthall 4-0, arguably their best display of the season. Louie Downey opened the scoring before Harry Barnes converted from the penalty spot. Jamarie Brissett added another and Lyle Della Verde wrapped things up with a late penalty. The result extends Phoenix’s unbeaten league run to nine games and keeps their faint play-off hopes alive, while Rusthall are now four without a win and slipping away from the top five.

Corinthian kept up their recent revival with a 2-1 win over Snodland Town. Tom Mitcham struck inside the opening minute before Oscar Housego doubled the lead on 67 minutes. Charlie Sheringham pulled one back late on for Snodland (86’), but the Hoops held firm to claim an important victory that should effectively end any lingering relegation worries. Snodland, meanwhile, remain locked in a tight battle for the final play-off places and are now four games without a win.

At the top of the table, leaders Whitstable Town moved another step closer to the title with a 3-1 victory at Kennington. Jack Nelson opened the scoring just before the break (44’) before Bradley Schafer extended the lead in the second half (59’). Ryan Philpott briefly gave Kennington hope from the penalty spot (87’), but Dean Grant quickly restored Whitstable’s two-goal cushion a minute later. The statistics now speak for themselves – Whitstable are unbeaten in 19 league games and sit 18 points clear at the summit. Just four more wins would secure a deserved championship.
