Erith & Belvedere 1-1 Sutton Athletic
Erith & Belvedere and Sutton Athletic shared the points after a closely fought 1-1 draw on Friday night at the Acclaim Handling Stadium, with both sides still chasing the Premier Division play-offs.
The hosts started brightly with Freddie Baker and Tommy Whitnell both going close before Sutton took the lead when a Conor Evans free kick caused confusion in the box and the ball deflected in off Tod Bamber. The Deres responded midway through the first half as Whitnell headed home from Scott Jarvis’ cross following a clever short corner.
Both sides created chances in an entertaining first half, with goalkeepers Danny Alexander and Jake Glassborrow making several important saves, while Sutton also missed a penalty when Ashdon Day struck the post.
Opportunities were fewer after the break, though Sutton came closest to a winner late on when Day steered a great chance wide from close range. Evans also had a stoppage-time effort saved by Alexander, ensuring the points were shared.
