Tunbridge Wells 5-0 Hythe Town
Tunbridge Wells kept their play-off hopes alive in emphatic style as they swept aside Hythe Town with a ruthless 5-0 victory at the Culverden Stadium.
Any nerves about the occasion were blown away inside the opening minutes. Ollie Hyland set the tone with a goal after just two minutes, and when Lucas Murrain doubled the lead four minutes later, the writing was already on the wall for a shell-shocked Hythe side.
Wells didn’t let up. Regan Corke took centre stage with a devastating first-half hat-trick, striking twice more in quick succession on 15 and 20 minutes to effectively end the contest before it had even had a chance to settle. His third, completed in the 65th minute, simply underlined the gulf between the sides on the night.
For Tunbridge Wells, it was exactly what was required — a dominant performance, goals, and three vital points to keep the pressure on in the race for the top five.
For Hythe Town, it’s hard to see a way back. Already facing an uphill battle, this heavy defeat only deepens their troubles, and with time running out and no manager in place, survival now looks a near-impossible task.
One team marches on with purpose. The other, bluntly, looks like it’s running out of road.
