Staplehurst Monarchs 3-1 Lewisham Borough
Staplehurst Monarchs dealt a major blow to Lewisham Borough’s survival hopes with a 3-1 victory, turning the game around after an early scare.
It was Lewisham who struck first, Andrea Carrera giving them a dream start inside 10 minutes and, for a brief moment, lifting them out of the bottom three. But that optimism didn’t last long, as Manny Cuttress responded almost immediately to level things up and settle any early nerves for the hosts.
From there, Staplehurst grew into the game and, while Lewisham battled hard knowing what was on the line, the decisive moments came late on. James Delaney put the Monarchs ahead with just over 10 minutes remaining before Donnell Sama quickly added a third to put the result beyond doubt.
For Lewisham Borough, it’s a tough one to take — a chance to climb out of the relegation zone slips away, and the pressure only increases. Staplehurst, meanwhile, continue their push for a strong finish, showing their quality in the closing stages to secure all three points.
