Sheppey Sports 4-0 Rochester United

Sheppey Sports kept their faint play-off hopes alive with an impressive 4-0 victory over title-chasing Rochester United at Holm Park.

The hosts produced one of their standout performances of the season, with Jack Marsh and Frankie Maciocia each grabbing a brace. Marsh broke the deadlock just past the half-hour mark and then doubled the advantage early in the second half to put Sheppey firmly in control.

Rochester, who went into the game looking to keep the pressure on the leaders, struggled to find a way back into the contest. Any hopes of a late fightback were ended ten minutes from time when Frankie Maciocia added a third then got his second in the final minute to seal a memorable win for the Islanders.

The result lifts Sheppey up to seventh place and keeps their slim play-off ambitions alive, while the defeat is a significant blow to Rochester United’s title challenge. They now sit eight points behind leaders SE Dons, albeit still holding three games in hand.
