Fisher strengthened their grip on top spot in the SCEFL Premier Division with another victory on Saturday, while Kennington and Hollands & Blair also continued their strong starts and Bearsted returned to winning ways.
The leaders were made to work for their points at Erith & Belvedere, eventually securing a 3-1 victory. Donald Macaulay put Fisher ahead from the penalty spot after 25 minutes, but Billy French responded just three minutes later to send the sides in level at the break. The game remained in the balance until the closing stages, when Euan Mutale restored Fisher’s advantage in the 83rd minute before James Bessey-Saldanha wrapped up the points four minutes into stoppage time. A fourth successive league victory takes Fisher onto 17 points from eight games, five clear at the summit.
Kennington are their nearest challengers after making it back-to-back victories with a 2-1 home success against Chislehurst Glebe. Bradley Walledge opened the scoring after 18 minutes, before Luke Medley continued his excellent week by equalising for Glebe a minute before half-time. Medley had scored four times in Tuesday’s 5-1 win over Erith & Belvedere, but this time Kennington had the final say as Sam Wright struck in the 77th minute. Kennington move onto 14 points and second place.
Hollands & Blair climbed to third after edging out Sutton Athletic 1-0. Dean Grant scored the only goal two minutes into the second half, taking Blair onto 13 points from seven games. They are now unbeaten in four league matches, taking 10 points during that run.
Bearsted also moved back into the top four with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Corinthian at Otham Sports Ground. Ross Ibbertson opened the scoring in the 26th minute before Matt Day doubled the advantage five minutes before the interval. Tyler Hatton made it three in the 58th minute and Day struck again six minutes later for his second of the afternoon. Alfie Cragg replied for Corinthian in the 84th minute, but the points were already secure as Bearsted moved onto 12 points from six games.
After successive 3-1 victories had lifted Rusthall up the table, Phoenix Sports brought that run to an abrupt end with a 3-0 win at Mayplace Road East. Jamarie Brissett gave Phoenix a flying start after only two minutes and Khayrie Harris doubled the lead in the 33rd. Harry Barnes completed the scoring in the first minute of stoppage time, giving Phoenix their second league victory of the campaign.
There was late drama between Petts Wood & Holmesdale and Larkfield & New Hythe, who shared the points in a 1-1 draw. Ollie Andrews put Petts Wood & Holmesdale ahead in the 57th minute and they remained in front until the final minute, when Daniel Gebor struck to rescue a point for Larkfield. It was Larkfield’s third successive league draw.
Tunbridge Wells were also celebrating after returning to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Beckenham Town. Regan Corke scored the decisive goal in the 37th minute as Wells collected their second league win of the season and moved level with Beckenham on eight points.
Fisher are now setting the early pace with 17 points, followed by Kennington on 14 and Hollands & Blair on 13. Bearsted and Snodland Town have 12, while unbeaten AFC Greenwich Borough remain well placed on 11 points having played only five league games.
With Fisher continuing to collect victories but several of the chasing clubs holding games in hand, there remains plenty to play for at the top of the Premier Division.
