Plenty of movement across the First Division on Saturday — and a few results that definitely turned heads.

At the top, AFC Greenwich Borough made their game in hand count in emphatic fashion, blowing Lydd Town away with a devastating first-half display. Goals from Wilfred Evans (6’), Stefan Payne (16’), an own goal (38’) and Oghosa Williams (45’) had the job done by the break, with the second half little more than damage limitation. Borough now sit just three points behind leaders SE Dons with two games in hand — and, frankly, they’re timing their charge to the top perfectly.

Rochester United, however, went the other way and made life much harder for themselves. They led through Liam Wilkins (53’), but Halls AFC turned it around with Muraino Banjoko (72’) levelling before Frankie White struck deep into stoppage time (90+9’) to seal a dramatic and season-defining huge win.

The play-off race remains as tight and unpredictable as ever. Croydon left it incredibly late to secure a 1-0 win at Staplehurst Monarchs, with Pat Ward striking in the 97th minute to keep them firmly in fourth. Just behind them, Lordswood and FC Elmstead couldn’t be separated in a 2-2 draw that probably felt like an opportunity missed for both. Harvey Welford (6’) and Rameses Meseorisa (54’) had Lordswood ahead twice, but Ryan Croucher (36’) and Fraser Page (77’) ensured Elmstead stayed right on their heels.

At the bottom, there was life where it mattered most. Chessington & Hook kept their slim survival hopes flickering with a 3-1 win over Sheppey Sports, thanks to a brace from Athan Smith-Joseph (9’, 62’) and a strike from James Laughton (17’), with Jack Marsh (78’) replying for the visitors.

SC Thamesmead also gave themselves a major boost, climbing out of the bottom three with a 1-0 win over Tooting Bec. Henry Phillips struck early (8’) in a result that lifts them up to 12th — a reminder of just how tight things are in the lower half.

Welling Town, though, suffered another setback with a 1-0 defeat to Greenways. Joe Thomas continued his fine form with his fourth goal in four games, keeping Greenways in the play-off conversation — a position Welling can only look at from a distance right now.

All in all: statement wins, late drama, and a title race that’s starting to lean one way — but still has plenty of twists left in it.
