A busy Bank Holiday weekend lies ahead in the SCEFL First Division, with two rounds of fixtures to come over the next few days.
Monday’s action can wait for now though, with six games to look forward to on Saturday and plenty of interesting contests across the Division.
Rochester United remain the team everyone is chasing after a flawless start to the campaign. Four games have produced four victories and 12 points, putting them three clear at the top of the table.
Their perfect record faces another test on Saturday when they travel to Lewisham Borough. The hosts suffered their first league defeat of the season at Staplehurst last weekend, but have already shown their credentials by taking a point at Croydon. Rochester will be looking to make it five from five and ensure they remain top heading into the Bank Holiday Monday programme.
Croydon are among those attempting to keep pace with the leaders and make the trip to Greenways. The Trams remain unbeaten after two wins and a draw from their opening three games and have scored 11 goals along the way. Greenways started brightly themselves but have now suffered back-to-back defeats and will be looking to halt that run on home soil.
There is another meeting between two sides looking to push themselves up the table as FC Elmstead host SC Thamesmead. Elmstead are still searching for their first victory but showed plenty of class early on in their 3-3 draw at Sheppey Sports last weekend, while Thamesmead have four points from their opening three games and will be looking to build on their emphatic midweek victory over Welling Town.
Lordswood have won two of their opening three matches and currently sit inside the early top five. They will be aiming to continue their encouraging start when they welcome Bridon Ropes, who are still searching for their first victory after collecting one point from their opening three games.
Unbeaten Lydd Town head to Stansfeld having collected six points from their opening four fixtures. Lydd have proved difficult to beat so far, while Stansfeld will be hoping home advantage can help them secure their first victory of the campaign.
At the other end of the table, Welling Town host Banstead Athletic in an important early-season encounter. Welling picked up their first point with a 2-2 draw at Lydd last weekend, while Banstead arrive having collected their first victory with a 3-1 success against Greenways.
With another full round of fixtures following quickly on Bank Holiday Monday, squad depth will be tested and a six-point weekend could make a significant difference to the early standings.
For now, though, all eyes are on Saturday – and whether anyone can finally put the brakes on Rochester United’s perfect start.
All six games kick off at 3pm, with live scores and match updates available throughout the afternoon via our usual Football Web Pages links.
