Rochester United 4-2 Greenways

There was no easing back into it for Rochester United as they marked their first game in a month with a 4-2 win over Greenways — and they needed barely half an hour to turn it into a classic.

With the match switched to the Homelands, home of Ashford United FC, to beat the weather, it proved a wise decision. The pitch held up. The defences? Not so much.

Liam Wilkins fired Rochester ahead inside three minutes, only for Dan Ashton to level just moments later. George Wady then stunned Rochester by putting Greenways 2-1 up on 13 minutes.

Game management? Optional.

Mack Reilly had other ideas. He restored parity on 23 minutes before calmly converting from the spot four minutes later to complete a ruthless turnaround. Four goals inside 27 minutes — blink and you missed something.

The second half couldn’t quite match the chaos of the first, but Rochester made sure of the points late on when Wilkins grabbed his second of the night in the 87th minute to seal it.

After a month without action, Rochester showed no signs of rust, staying third in the table. Greenways remain seventh — and will probably want a slightly quieter opening half-hour next time.
