Premier Division

Friday 28 August

PREMIER DIVISION

Phoenix Sports v Beckenham Town

Sutton Athletic v Bearsted

A busy Bank Holiday weekend of SCEFL football gets underway on Friday evening with two Premier Division fixtures – with of the sides involved yet to taste defeat in the league this season and the other two yet to get a point.

Early leaders Bearsted travel to Sutton Athletic looking to continue their perfect start to the campaign.

The Bears have taken maximum points from their opening two Premier Division fixtures without conceding a goal. After beginning with a 2-0 victory over Chislehurst Glebe, they followed up with an impressive 3-0 midweek win against Faversham Strike Force, with Matt Day scoring twice.

That excellent start has put Bearsted at the top of the early table and they now face a Sutton Athletic side who have played just once in the league so far.

Sutton’s only Premier Division outing produced a narrow 3-2 home defeat against Larkfield & New Hythe, so they will be looking to get their first points on the board while also becoming the first side to find a way past the Bearsted defence.

There is another interesting contest at Phoenix Sports, where Beckenham Town are the visitors.

The Becks are unbeaten following their return to the Premier Division, taking four points from their opening two matches. A dramatic stoppage-time winner earned them a 1-0 victory over Hollands & Blair before another late goal rescued a 1-1 draw against AFC Greenwich Borough.

Phoenix have endured a much tougher start.

Three league games have brought three defeats, including a 6-2 loss at Fisher in their most recent outing. They have scored four goals but conceded ten and head into Friday night looking to put their first Premier Division point of the season on the board.

So while Bearsted and Beckenham Town aim to protect their unbeaten records, Sutton and Phoenix will be looking to kick-start their campaigns.

And with another full programme to come on Saturday before Bank Holiday Monday’s fixtures, Friday night is just the beginning of a huge weekend of SCEFL action.
