Phoenix Sports 5-0 Beckenham Town

Sutton Athletic 1-2 Bearsted

Friday night football kicked off a huge Bank Holiday weekend of SCEFL action in style, with Phoenix Sports hitting five to claim their first points of the season while Bearsted maintained their perfect start at the top of the Premier Division.

After three successive league defeats, Phoenix Sports responded emphatically with a 5-0 victory over Beckenham Town.

The hosts flew out of the blocks and were three goals ahead inside the opening 20 minutes. Tom Borders, Steve Townsend and Jamarie Brissett all found the net as Phoenix took complete control of the contest.

New signing Richie Hamill played a starring role, pulling the strings for the hosts and providing the fourth goal for Borders before substitute Isaac Hadlow completed the scoring.

It was a dramatic turnaround for a Phoenix side who had started the evening at the foot of the table without a point, while previously unbeaten Beckenham endured a night to forget And their evening was compounded in the closing stages when Dan Vaughan was sent off.

Bearsted continued their perfect start to the Premier Division season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Sutton Athletic.

Dieko Falade gave the Bears the ideal start with the opening goal after ten minutes before Ryan Sawyer doubled their advantage seven minutes into the second half.

Sutton refused to go quietly and Joe Thomas pulled one back to set up a tense finish.
Bearsted held firm, however, to make it three league wins from three and strengthen their position at the top of the early Premier Division table.

Three matches, nine points and another victory for the Bears as their excellent start to the new campaign continues.

And with another seven Premier Division fixtures to come on Saturday before the Bank Holiday Monday programme, Friday night was only the beginning of a huge weekend of SCEFL football.
