First Division Midweek Preview

The SCEFL First Division continues with four games spread across Tuesday and Wednesday, with clubs at both ends of the table looking to make the most of their midweek opportunity.

Tuesday 22 September sees Rochester United host Sheppey Sports. Rochester sit second on 16 points after eight games and will be looking to keep the pressure on leaders Lordswood, who moved three points clear at the weekend. Sheppey have played only five league games so far and make the trip to Rede Court Road with six points to their name.

There are three more fixtures on Wednesday 23 September, including FC Elmstead against Banstead Athletic. Elmstead will be looking to build on Saturday’s impressive 2-0 victory at Stansfeld, which lifted them to eight points, while Banstead head to the Longmead Stadium looking to respond after their narrow 2-1 defeat at Minster.

Lewisham Borough host Tooting Bec with the home side enjoying a strong start to the campaign. Saturday’s 2-1 win at Bridon Ropes moved Lewisham onto 13 points and up to fifth. Tooting also arrive in good spirits after an emphatic 4-0 victory over Halls AFC.

The remaining game sees Welling Town take on Halls AFC. Both sides will be looking for a response after difficult results at the weekend, with Welling beaten 7-1 by leaders Lordswood and Halls suffering that 4-0 defeat against Tooting Bec.

With Rochester able to draw level with Lordswood on Tuesday and several teams looking to climb the table on Wednesday, there is plenty at stake across another busy couple of nights in the First Division.
