Andy Drury Appointed Hythe Town Manager as Cannons Look to Arrest Slide
Hythe Town have moved quickly to fill their managerial vacancy, confirming the appointment of Andy Drury as First Team Manager with immediate effect.
Drury arrives at Reachfields just days after the Cannons dismissed Darren Beale following a difficult spell of just eight league matches in charge. Beale’s departure came on the back of Saturday’s heavy 7–2 defeat at Snodland Town, a result that left Hythe rooted to the bottom of the Southern Counties East Premier Division, eight points adrift of safety with 13 games remaining and facing the prospect of successive relegations.
The new appointment brings a familiar name at this level, with Drury previously managing Folkestone Invicta and carrying significant experience of the SCEFL and its demands. His brief is a clear one: stabilise results and give Hythe the best possible chance of survival during a critical final stretch of the campaign.
In a club statement, the Hythe Town chairman acknowledged the difficulty of recent decisions, stressing that both Beale and his predecessor were backed financially in an effort to turn fortunes around. However, despite that support, performances and results failed to improve sufficiently, leaving the club with little choice but to act in order to protect its long-term future.
The focus now turns firmly forward. With time running out and margins for error slim, Hythe are calling on everyone connected with the club to pull together as they enter the season’s decisive phase.
Supporters have been urged to get behind Drury, his staff and the players, with the message clear: unity and backing from the stands could yet prove vital in the battle to beat the drop.
Andy Drury’s task is a tough one — but at Reachfields, hope has been reset, and the Cannons are betting that experience can still make the difference.
