Wednesday April 15
FIRST DIVISION
Chessington & Hook 0-4 Rochester United
FC Elmstead 3-1 Sheppey Sports
Tooting Bec 0-1 Lewisham Borough
Three games, big consequences – and now the table is tightening up exactly where it matters most.
Rochester United took another big step towards securing a home play-off tie with a commanding 4-0 win at Chessington & Hook. It took until the second half to break through, but Tom Loynes (64’) opened the scoring before Liam Wilkins (74’) added a second. Luke Adams then put gloss on the result with two late strikes (90+1’, 90+6’). For Chessy, it’s a crushing blow – as that’s them finishing in the bottom two and in a relegation position.
FC Elmstead were on it from the first whistle in their 3-1 win over Sheppey Sports. Deshon Carty struck inside the opening minute (1’) and doubled his tally early in the second half (47’) to put Elmstead in control. Jack O’Neill pulled one back for Sheppey (78’), but Lewis Neale wrapped it up late on (90’). It’s a strong finish from Elmstead, while Sheppey’s momentum takes a knock.
At the bottom, the biggest moment of the night came at Tooting Bec. Lewisham Borough edged it 1-0 thanks to a Bryan Zepo penalty (66’), and that could be absolutely massive in the survival race. It gives Lewisham real belief heading into the final games, while Tooting miss the chance to secure safety and are now uncomfortably looking over their shoulder.
So, Rochester march on towards a home play-off tie, Elmstead finish strong, and Lewisham breathe life into their survival bid.
With time running out, every goal – and every mistake – is proving decisive.
