PREMIER DIVISION

Kennington 2-1 Punjab United

Stansfeld 2-1 Faversham Strikeforce

Two games in the Premier Division on Wednesday night both ended in home victories, including a crucial result at the bottom of the table.

Stansfeld finally ended their long wait for a win with a 2-1 victory over Faversham Strike Force. The hosts came into the match on a 13-game winless run, including six straight defeats, and it looked like that streak might continue when Strike Force took the lead. However, goals from Adam Wallis (68′) and Teddy Green (79′) turned the game around to give Stansfeld a much-needed three points. The gap to their opponents is now down to ten points, although the night finished on a sour note as Stansfeld had two players sent off late in the game.

Elsewhere, Kennington dealt a blow to Punjab United’s play-off hopes with a 2-1 win. Kimsley Gatakata (11′) and Ryan Philpott (52′) put Kennington in control, while Harry Ottaway (60′) pulled one back for Punjab. The visitors were hampered after Jack Hopkins was sent off on 38 minutes. The win lifts Kennington up to 13th place, while Punjab remain 10th in the table.
