Wednesday 1st April
FIRST DIVISION
Chessington & Hook 1-1 Greenways
Tooting Bec 0-3 Halls AFC
Wednesday night brought a mix of frustration and missed opportunity in the First Division.
Halls produced the standout result of the evening with an impressive 3-0 win away at Tooting Bec. In what looked like a fairly even mid-table contest on paper, the visitors took control and never let go, turning it into a comfortable night’s work. For Tooting, it’s a setback just as they looked to be edging towards confirmed safety, while Halls can enjoy a strong statement win as they push for a top-half finish.
It was a case of “not enough” for Chessington & Hook and Greenways as they played out a 1-1 draw.
Luke Mercer gave the visitors the perfect start with an early opener but Tommy McKenna’s equaliser midway through the second half ensured the points were shared.
For Chessington, a draw does little to aid their survival bid with time rapidly running out, while Greenways will also feel the result doesn’t quite do enough to boost their play-off chances. In truth, it’s a night that probably suited neither side.
