Nearest train station is Abbey Wood which is served by SouthEastern, Thameslink and Elizabeth Line trains.
Buses that stop near the ground (Lister Walk stop) are 177, 229, 401 and 472 (the bus stop from Abbey Wood train station to the ground is accessed via the front of the station, turning left and is then a one-minute walk away).
The ground is a good thirty five minute walk from this station.
SC Thamesmead – A Brief History
Sporting Club Thamesmead traces its roots back to 1900, when the Royal Arsenal Sports Club was formed. Over the following century, the club evolved through several identities while remaining firmly established in South East London, eventually becoming Seven Acre Sports FC and later Seven Acre & Sidcup FC.
After enjoying considerable success in local football, including a memorable treble-winning campaign in 2007, the club joined the Kent County League in 2008 before becoming founder members of the Kent Invicta League in 2011. A move to Oxford Road in Sidcup and significant investment in facilities helped establish the club as an ambitious force both on and off the pitch.
In 2014, the first team entered a groundshare at Bayliss Avenue before, two years later, adopting the name Sporting Club Thamesmead FC to strengthen its ties with the local community and reflect its long-term ambitions. Since then, the club has become a well-established member of the Southern Counties East Football League, while continuing to expand its youth and community programmes.
On the pitch, SC Thamesmead lifted the Hospitals Charity Cup in 2017/18 and enjoyed a strong 2019/20 campaign before the Covid-19 pandemic brought football to an abrupt halt. More recently, the Acre won the Kent Invitational Charity Cup during the 2024/25 season.
Ben Williams and Craig Penfold guided the club to a tenth-place finish in the First Division during 2025/26 and remain in charge as SC Thamesmead looks to continue its progress in the 2026/27 campaign.
