Faversham Join Leading Trio as Fisher Strike Late
With four Premier Division sides away on FA Cup duty, Saturday’s reduced league programme gave the chasing pack an opportunity to make their move – and Faversham Strike Force took full advantage.
Faversham Strike Force 3-0 Chislehurst Glebe
Faversham made it back-to-back league victories with a convincing 3-0 success over Chislehurst Glebe.
Josh Oliver opened the scoring after 13 minutes and Glebe’s afternoon became even more difficult just four minutes later when Malakai Hyman was sent off.
Strike Force had to wait until the second half to make their numerical advantage count again, with Kane Taylor doubling the lead in the 54th minute before Oliver grabbed his second six minutes later.
The victory follows Monday’s 2-1 success at Kennington and moves Faversham onto 10 points, level with AFC Greenwich Borough and Snodland Town at the top of the table.
Rusthall 3-1 Kennington
Rusthall produced an impressive home performance to beat Kennington 3-1, with Jack Kirby scoring twice.
Kirby gave the Rustics the perfect start after only three minutes, although Tom Scorer brought Kennington level in the 17th.
Kirby struck again a minute before half-time to restore Rusthall’s advantage and Lekan Osideko added the third on the hour to secure the points.
Rusthall climb to six points from only four games, while Kennington have now suffered consecutive defeats following their unbeaten opening four matches.
Sutton Athletic 1-2 Fisher
There was late drama as Fisher snatched all three points at Sutton Athletic.
After a goalless first half, James Bessey-Saldanha put Fisher ahead in the 70th minute.
Sutton looked to have rescued a point when substitute Elijah Abraham equalised six minutes from time, but Fisher responded deep into stoppage time.
Festos Kamara struck in the 92nd minute to secure a 2-1 victory and move Fisher up to sixth with eight points from five games.
Hollands & Blair 1-0 Phoenix Sports
Hollands & Blair continued their excellent run with a second successive league victory.
After Monday’s 2-1 win at then-leaders Bearsted, Blair had to be patient against Phoenix Sports, with the game remaining goalless heading into the final ten minutes.
Kane Rowland finally made the breakthrough in the 81st minute, and that proved enough to secure all three points.
Blair move onto nine points from five matches and sit fifth, just a point behind the leading trio.
Beckenham Town 1-1 Larkfield & New Hythe
The points were shared at Eden Park Avenue as Larkfield & New Hythe brought their four-match losing run to an end.
Charlie Wright gave the visitors the lead after 29 minutes and Larkfield took that advantage into the interval.
Beckenham responded almost immediately after the restart, with Ellis Marsh equalising in the 47th minute.
Neither side could find a winner, leaving Beckenham on eight points from five games and Larkfield on seven from seven.
Three Teams on Ten Points
The day’s results leave three sides locked together on 10 points at the top.
AFC Greenwich Borough remain first on goal difference ahead of Snodland Town, with both sides having been on FA Cup duty. Faversham Strike Force are now third after their second successive league victory.
Bearsted sit fourth on nine points, with Hollands & Blair joining them on that total. Fisher’s late victory takes them sixth on eight points, ahead of Kennington and Beckenham Town.
With several clubs having played significantly different numbers of matches because of cup commitments and postponements, the table remains tightly packed as the opening weeks of the Premier Division season continue.
