Fisher March On After Nine-Goal Thriller
Fisher continue to set the pace at the top of the SCEFL Premier Division after another remarkable afternoon of goals, with their 5-4 victory over Bearsted the headline act on a Saturday which produced 34 goals across the nine matches.
The leaders have certainly been providing entertainment and this was another extraordinary contest. Jack Gibbons and Temi Alaka put Fisher two goals ahead inside 26 minutes, only for Bearsted to completely turn the game around before the break. Dieko Falade struck twice in four minutes before Matt Day completed the turnaround in first-half stoppage time to send the Bears in 3-2 ahead.
Back came Fisher. Festos Kamara levelled seven minutes after the restart and Rafael Garcia restored their lead six minutes later. Falade completed his hat-trick in the 71st minute to make it 4-4, but there was still one final twist. Eden Deh struck in the 90th minute to give Fisher a dramatic 5-4 victory in front of 337 spectators and keep them at the Premier Division summit.
Hollands & Blair remain their nearest challengers after a 2-0 win over Tunbridge Wells. They wasted no time getting started, with Matt Gething scoring in the opening minute before a Reece Gillies penalty doubled the advantage after 20 minutes. There were no further goals, with Blair moving up to second place after nine matches.
There was a statement victory for SE Dons, who won 5-0 at Beckenham Town in front of an excellent crowd of 603 at Eden Park Avenue. Andre Coker opened the scoring after 17 minutes and Joshua Bohui doubled the lead on the stroke of half-time. Bohui struck again seven minutes after the restart before Femi Akinwande and Aaron Watson completed an emphatic afternoon for the Dons. With only six league matches played, they remain down in 13th but have a goal difference of +10.
Corinthian were also among the goals as they came from behind to beat Erith & Belvedere 5-2. Ross Obazee gave the Deres a second-minute lead before Jamie Billings and Oliver Fryer turned the game around. Obazee’s second made it 2-2 at the interval, but the second half belonged to Corinthian. Jake Williams scored twice, in the 46th and 57th minutes, before Caleb Afoke rounded things off nine minutes from time.
Chislehurst Glebe made it back-to-back league victories with a 3-2 success against Petts Wood & Holmesdale. Brandon Barrance opened the scoring after only three minutes, although Charlie Clover quickly replied for the visitors. Glebe regained control through Ben Oladapo-Gamu in the 34th minute before Luke Medley made it 3-1 in first-half stoppage time. Mo Diaby reduced the deficit ten minutes into the second half, but Glebe held on for all three points.
There was another five-goal contest at Jockey Farm, where Faversham Strike Force beat Rusthall 3-2. Harry Taylor put Strike Force ahead before Rajan Sahni responded three minutes later. Mefose Esumobi restored the visitors’ advantage before half-time and Robbie Bissett added a third seven minutes after the restart. Lekan Osideko pulled one back for Rusthall in the 81st minute, but Strike Force saw out the remaining minutes to take the points.
AFC Greenwich Borough returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory at Snodland Town, Bradley Ryan’s fourth-minute goal proving decisive. Greenwich had to play the final half-hour with ten men following Tom Jones’ 62nd-minute red card, but held firm to collect the win in front of 315.
Sutton Athletic continued their climb with a 2-1 home victory over Kennington. Tom Scorer put the visitors ahead after 13 minutes, but Muriano Banjoko had Sutton level by the 34th minute. The deciding goal arrived nine minutes from time through Chris Loko, moving Sutton onto nine points from eight matches.
The day’s lowest-scoring contest came at Mayplace Road East, where Phoenix Sports edged Larkfield & New Hythe 1-0. A Harry Barnes penalty in the 25th minute was enough to separate the sides and after 3 succesive wins, Phoenix move up to eighth.
It all leaves Fisher top after ten matches, with their latest goal-fest taking their goal difference to +13. Hollands & Blair sit second after nine games, while Kennington remain third despite their defeat at Sutton. AFC Greenwich Borough complete the top four, with Faversham Strike Force fifth and Bearsted sixth.
