Rochester United 2-1 SE Dons
Rochester United made it two wins in four days as they ended SE Dons’ 19-game unbeaten run with a huge victory at the Rochester Utilities Stadium.
Michael Bett’s side struck early, with Will Currie heading home Luke Adams’ inviting cross after just eight minutes. The Dons had strong shouts for both a penalty and a goal waved away in the first half, but Rochester made their fortune count. Just before the half-hour, Luke Medley latched onto a clearance, beat the offside trap and rounded George Hill to make it 2-0 at the break.
SE Dons responded after the hour when a defensive mix-up allowed Aaron Watson to tap into an empty net, sparking heavy pressure from the visitors. Andre Coker continued to threaten, but Rochester’s defence stood firm to see out a massive win.
The result lifts Rochester up to second, nine points behind the leaders with five games in hand — and suddenly, the title race looks very interesting.
