Medway Tournament

Sheppey United 3-2 Punjab United

On the first night of the 5-team friendly tournament in the Medway area, Sheppey United picked up a 3-2 win against Punjab United.

Sheppey were acting as the hosts at Chatham Town’s Bauvill Stadium but it was the visitors that took the lead with Luke Adams finishing well in just the 8th minute.

The scores were soon level though.

Danny Leonard broke down the right, squared to Billy Bennett and the game was now squared.

Punjab almost took the lead again but were denied by the post and a fine save from Adam Molloy and Sheppey took advantage when Jack Midson turned Gazza, lobbed the ball over the defenders head and volleyed home. No ‘Dentist Chair’ celebration however.

It was 3-1 before the break with Billy Bennett getting his second of the game. Good work down the left by Harrison Carnegie ended with him crossing to Leonard, who pulled the ball back to Bennett, who slotted home.

There were multiple changes in an even second half with Punjab United pulling one back with a fine finish from distance which setting up an exciting finish.

Sheppey held on though and kick off this end of season tournament with the win.
