League Statement – Welling Town / Erith Stadium

Board statement

The issues regarding the pitch at Erith Leisure Centre were discussed by the Southern Counties East Football League earlier this month.

Welling Town were informed of the league’s decision that should either of their forthcoming matches against Halls or Sheppey Sports be postponed in September due to pitch conditions, that the league would no longer allow their ground to host Step 6 matches from the start of October under league rule 8.7.2.

With the Halls game postponed by the match referee due to pitch conditions, the league have confirmed our position to Welling Town.

As part of our commitment to avoid unnecessary travel for our member clubs, the league ordered for a pitch inspection to take place on Friday. Following that pitch inspection, the match was subsequently postponed.
