Kennington duo Tad Greenfield and Sam Conlon, have both decided to call time on their playing careers, due to increased family commitments.
Defender Greenfield joined the club towards the tail end of the 2016/17 season, having played Kent County League level prior with Bromley Green, and took on the captaincy the following year, leading Ton to the Kent County Premier Division title.
Conlon meanwhile brought vast experience from his time at a higher level at both Canterbury City and Hythe Town to help fire Ton into the SCEFL Division One in 2017/18, and has been one of the club’s most consistent attacking threats ever since.
Speaking of both players, manager Dan Scorer, said: “Tad’s been a good friend of mine for a number of years and came in when Ads (Adam Phillips) joined Ashford United.
“In terms of Tads impact, it’s been a story of firsts for him and the club, really – he took over the captaincy and we went on to win the Kent County League.
“Then last season he was the first captain to lead us out at step six, and for our first ever appearance in the FA Vase. I know he struggled with injury more recently, but has some great memories to take away.
“Sam’s another close friend of mine and has been with us a while. He was at Hythe Town and then Canterbury City, but wasn’t getting enough game time so signed for us just before the Christmas in 2017/18, made a big difference in helping us win the Kent County Premier, and has been another fantastic servant.
“Our first year in the SCEFL he made the most appearances and has a tireless work ethic, always willing to run himself into ground.
“Sam has two daughters who are both at an age where they’re busy at the weekend and like any family man he doesn’t want to miss out; and Tad is similar with two boys and a baby daughter, so I completely understand why they’ve decided to stop playing. Both of them will definitely be missed.”
