Joy for VCD as new Management Team announced

Danny Joy and Ross Baker have been appointed as joint-managers of incoming-SCEFL Premier Division side, VCD Athletic.

VCD suffered a disappointing defeat in a home Inter-Step Play-Off against Phoenix Sports at the end of last month, with Ryan Hayes’ last-minute penalty sealing their fate.

In January, Joy and Baker returned for their second stint as joint-managers at SC Thamesmead. Their tenure saw the club finish second-from-bottom but escape relegation due to lack of numbers at that level.

Prior to the new appointment, Vickers had parted ways with Michael Power, following their Play-Off defeat.

A VCD Athletic statement said: “Both have experience managing at Step Four with Phoenix Sports and most recently Sporting Club Thamesmead.

“We welcome them both along with their coaching staff to the club and wish them well in their roles as VCD prepare for the season in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division.”

VCD will take their place in a 21-team Division that is expected to get underway on 29th July.
