fa vase wembley scefl

Football returns this weekend with some Buildbase FA Vase action and we have 7 SCEFL sides taking part across 6 games.

Saturday 5th December
FA Vase Second Round

Glebe v Kennington
Hanworth Villa v Corinthian
Horley Town v Chatham Town
Littlehampton Town v Sheppey United
Saltdean United v Deal Town

Sunday 6th December
FA Vase First Round

Stansfeld v AFC Hayes

Foxbury hosts the only all-SCEFL tie of the Second Round with Premier Division Glebe hosting First Division Kennington.

Like all sides playing this weekend each has had a long break since their last game with the hosts having to go back 6 weeks to a league loss at Tunbridge Wells for their last outing while Kennington may just remember their penalty shoot-out win over in this competition 5 weeks ago.

This will be the first game for Glebe in the Vase this season, after they reached Round 4 last year, whereas it is game 4 for Kennington following wins over Erith Town, Shoreham and Fisher.

The match will kick off at 3pm on Saturday with tickets available to buy via this link.

Please do not travel from a Tier 3 area for this or any of the games featured here.

Corinthian make their debut in this seasons’ competition with the aim of trying to better last years’ superb run to the semi’s.

Hanworth Villa are the first hurdle in their way this time and look to be very tough opponents having started their Combined Counties Premier Division season unbeaten in their first 9 games played.

Premier Division leaders Chatham Town go into their tie at Horley Town in rich goalscoring form having scored 27 times in their current  4-game winning run.

That was back in October though and it is likely that the ‘Chats’ will have to quickly find that ruthlessness again if they are to get past their Southern Combination hosts. Horley sit in second place in their Step 5 league, have the best goal difference and contain a defence that has conceded an average of less than one goal per game so far.

Sheppey United visit a side in Littlehampton Town side that have already claimed 2 SCEFL victims in the FA Vase so far this year.

Beckenham Town and Lordswood exited the competition after defeats to the Southern Combination Club so Sheppey will have to be at their best if they are to book their place in the Third Round Draw.

Ites fans are encouraged not to travel to the game but can instead take advantage of the Live stream, with details of that available here.

To complete a tough day of Vase fixtures for our boys Deal Town travel around the coast to play Southern Combination Premier leaders Saltdean United.

The Hoops seem to find an extra gear for their Cup adventures and they will certainly need to find it again if they are to get past a side who have not lost a home game this season so far.

Just the one game for us on Sunday and it is an all-Step 6 tie with Stansfeld hosting Southern Combination team AFC Hayes.

Stansfeld have seen off Alford and Knaphill so far and before the break were on a 3-game winning run.

Both Clubs may sit in the bottom half of their respective leagues but each has played less than the rest due to impressive Cup runs such as this.

Tickets can be purchased here and with a decent crowd expected prior booking is recommended.
