FA Vase Second Round

Saturday 2nd November

Bearsted P-P Chatham Town

Corinthian 2-0 Canterbury City

Deal Town 4-1 Oxhey Jets

Fisher 1-2 Glebe

Kennington 1-6 Newhaven

Welling Town 3-1 Bedfont & Feltham (AET)

Corinthian, Deal Town, Glebe and Welling Town were FA Vase winners today and will join Bearsted and Chatham Town in the hat for Monday’s Third Round Draw.
The Bears and Chatham will still need to play each other before their place in that round is confirmed after their game was washed out due to the awful weather conditions today. Deal Town are confirmed though after they came from behind to see off Oxhey Jets at the Charles Sports Ground. The Spartan South Midlands side had taken an early lead but a Ben Chapman hat-trick plus one from Billy Munday means that the Hoops are through to Round Three. As are the other Hoops as Corinthian knocked out last season’s semi-finalists Canterbury City thanks to a 2-0 scoreline. Kameron Gyeabour and Jack Bath with the goals for Michael Golding’s men.
The two sides drew their league game on Tuesday but it was Glebe that came out top in this Cup match with Fisher. First half goals from Anthony Dwyer and Toby Ajala gave Glebe a good lead at the break and the didn’t lose grip on the tie despite Luke Thomas pulling one back for the hosts.
Welling Town’s stunning season continues after they used the full 120 minutes to get past a resilient Bedfont & Feltham at Bayliss Avenue. Joel Thompson gave the Boots the lead which was quickly levelled by the visitors and with scores level at full time the extra half hour commenced. Welling march on though as goals from Tijani Oshilokun and Carl Oblitey earned them the win and a place in Monday’s draw.
For Kennington it is all over as they come up against an immovable force in Newhaven. The visitors were impressive from the start and ended up as 6-1 winners with Charlie Owen grabbing the consolation effort for the ‘Ton’.
