It was a strong weekend for the SCEFL in the Isuzu FA Vase Second Round Qualifying, with 13 of our clubs booking their places in the next round so far and one more tie still to come on Sunday.
Friday night saw SE Dons win 3-1 at Greenways, while Kennington powered past Minster 4-0 thanks to a remarkable four-goal haul from Charlie Owen.
There were some emphatic victories on Saturday. AFC Greenwich Borough hit Molesey for six, with Stefan Payne scoring twice, while Chislehurst Glebe beat Godalming Town 4-0. Bearsted produced the biggest SCEFL away win of the day, defeating Epsom & Ewell 7-2 as Dieko Falade struck a hat-trick.
Larkfield & New Hythe came through an entertaining contest with Balham 4-2, with Tobe Uzor scoring a late hat-trick, while Rusthall recovered from being 1-0 down at half-time to score four times in the closing stages and beat AFC Walcountians 4-1.
There was plenty of drama elsewhere. Phoenix Sports held on to beat Billingshurst 4-3 having led 4-1, Rochester United edged fellow SCEFL side Banstead Athletic 3-2 and Corinthian defeated Staplehurst Monarchs United 2-1, Harrison Fryer scoring the 73rd-minute winner.
Stansfeld progressed on penalties after a 2-2 draw at Met Police, while Tooting Bec completed the list of Saturday winners with a 2-1 victory over Bexhill United.
There was disappointment for Beckenham Town, Croydon, Lydd Town and Lewisham Borough, while SC Thamesmead, Greenways, Minster, Staplehurst Monarchs United and Banstead Athletic also exited the competition. Welling Town’s tie with Jarvis Brook was postponed due to pitch conditions.
Hythe Town completed an excellent weekend for SCEFL clubs on Sunday with a 5-2 victory over Wick. Josh Byford and Monty Saunders struck in the first half before Jake Embery and George Grosvenor added to the tally after the break, with Harry Codd completing the scoring in the 90th minute.
The victory takes the number of SCEFL sides through to the next round to 13, with Welling Town’s postponed tie against Jarvis Brook still to be played on Tuesday night.

SCEFL clubs enjoyed a successful opening weekend in the Isuzu FA Vase, with eight sides progressing from the First Round Qualifying to join those who received byes into the next stage.
There were emphatic home victories for Bearsted, Minster and SE Dons, who all scored four, while AFC Greenwich Borough marked their tie with an impressive 3-1 victory over Sheerwater.
Lewisham Borough were convincing 4-0 winners in the all-SCEFL clash with FC Elmstead, while Beckenham Town edged Sutton Athletic 2-1. Corinthian won 1-0 at Lordswood and Banstead Athletic produced an excellent away performance to beat Mile Oak 4-1.
There was penalty shootout disappointment for Erith & Belvedere and Hollands & Blair, while Sheppey Sports, Petts Wood & Holmesdale and Halls Athletic also bowed out of the competition.
Among the individual performances, Dieko Falade hit a hat-trick for Bearsted, Ollie Harris did likewise for Minster, while Caden Havell-Olding and Sam Haughey both struck twice for Lewisham Borough and Banstead Athletic respectively.
