A message from Lewisham Borough Chairman Ray Simpson
You all know what a particuarly tough season it has been for the Club, myself and the other three Directors (Juliet Simpson, Richard Leach & Julie Leach). With the Club folding for a day back in July 2018 and then being reinstalled was fantastic. I along with the other Directors have been carrying out a handover to those who will now be running the Club and I have to say and reassure you that the Club will be in very good hands. I am confident that success on the pitch will happen in a very short space of time for the plans which are now in place. Myself and the Directors are very proud of the success that we have achieved off the pitch in terms of grounds development and winning awards for administration and hospitality.
It has been tough for us in terms of securing Step 6 status as inaugural members and keeping the Club going through difficult financial times and on the pitch - we have inspite of this thoroughly enjoyed our time but that time comes to all of us to say now would be a good time to call it a day. The other Club Directors will also be stepping down at the end of the season.
We all hope to still be involved in football at some point but for now we will all be taking a break. Juliet and I have plans to move out of London and in the not too distant future plans to move abroad to spend more time with family and get involved in some other projects.
Thanks to all of you for your help and assistance over the 16 years the Club has been in existence but particuarly since 2011 when the Step 6 league was formed. We have made many friends along the way on the Management Committee, Club Chairman and Directors, press, Supporters, managers, coaches and players from all over the Country.
Many thanks to you and hopefully see you soon - if not we will stay in touch.
Below are some photos from 22nd April and the final Lewisham Borough home game, against Forest Hill Park. Both teams gave Ray and the other directors a great send-off.
