First Division

Season 2019-20 – Stansfeld

The season may have come to an sudden end and all results expunged but games did take place and plenty of teams had a year to remember. Here we look back at some of the sides that had an impressive First Division campaign.

Stansfeld

Stansfeld were one of 7 teams in the hunt for one of the 4 promotion places on offer when the season was brought to an early end. 4 of those sides were level on the same points showing that we were unfortunately denied what would have been a thrilling and decisive end to the campaign.

Stansfeld had 8 games to play and a Points Per Game average of 1.87 which had the season continued to the end, meant they would have finished on around 60 points. That total probably would not have been good enough to finish in the top 4 but with many games to come against the other contenders an improved run could have possibly seen them sneak in to that elite quartet.

Summary

It was a huge shame that the enforced early end to the season denied us of a thrilling promotion race in the First Division. Stansfeld were right in the mix for the honours and were in great form over the past few months. All involved at the club should be extremely proud of their efforts throughout the year and hopefully take inspiration from it by the time the next season comes around.
