SCEFL Fixtures – Saturday 31st August
There may have only been 3 Premier Division games today but they gave us plenty of entertainment, 20 goals and wins to the trio of home teams.
Chatham Town raced into second place in the table with a 5-3 victory over Corinthian at the Bauvill Stadium. Paul Vines was the star of the show, returning to the side and scoring a hat-trick following a Harry Harding opener. Matt Bodkin got in on the act too and despite a couple of Jack Mahoney efforts late on Corinthian were already beaten. The Hoops are now in third place following their first League defeat of the campaign.
Bearsted won for the third time in a row to step up to 4th place but needed a late winner to get past Hollands & Blair. A first half James Bassey-Saldanha double set the Bears on the way and despite Blair fighting back through the second 45 minutes a Constantine Scarlat effort with 5 to play earned the hosts those precious points.
Fisher led early but went down 4-1 as Canterbury City turned on the style at Salters Lane. Billy Brown’s goal was soon cancelled out by Liam King before Dean Grant and then a Charlie Dickens double completed a good performance by the now 7th placed Canterbury.
