Saturday 10th August – First Division
Greenways 3-1 Stansfeld
Holmesdale 1-1 Kent Football United
Kennington 6-2 Lewisham Borough
Lydd Town P-P Forest Hill Park
Rochester United 2-1 SC Thamesmead
Snodland Town 0-1 FC Elmstead
The high winds on the coast claimed the Lydd Town early on Saturday leaving us just 5 First Division games to look forward to, enough though that by closing time we had a new name on top of the table.
FC Elmstead hold the crown thanks to a second successive win with Marcus Cassius scoring late in a 1-0 victory at Snodland Town.
Greenways bounced back from heavy defeat last time to earn maximum points over Stansfeld in an eventful game at Cobdown. The hosts went behind to a Billy Shinners goal and found themselves reduced to 9 men during the game but somehow found a way to win, with goals from Brad Cross and Josh White (x2).
Many expected Kent Football United to have a very tough afternoon ahead of them at Holmesdale but they returned with a draw and can now look more positively to the season ahead after a disappointing Day One game. Ryan Golding had put the hosts ahead at Oakley Road before the break but with 10 to play Kai Bichard smashed in a quality leveller earning his side a decent and deserved point.
Lewisham Borough only started their season today and after just 14 seconds found themselves ahead, from there though it all went wrong and Kennington wound up as comfortable 6-2 victors. Gary Lockyer completed the rout with a second half double following efforts from Sam Conlon, Charlie Owen and Dale Horton. Omar Rowe added to his early strike with a consolation penalty for Borough.
Rochester United got their first win of the campaign, seeing off SC Thamesmead at home, to join a whole host of teams on a single win for the year so far in this division. Reece Gillies gave the Spartans the lead just before the break, which they held until James Jewers levelled from the spot late on. There was just enough time for United to get back in front though and Harrison Hume’s winner saw the points stay with the hosts.
