Safer Travel Guidance

Below is an update from the FA regarding ‘Safer Travel’ following the change of restrictions from March 29th.

Please find the updated travel guidance from the Department of Transport. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-safer-travel-guidance-for-passengers (updated 29 Mar)

All Clubs need to be aware that it is imperative that they follow this guidance.

“Car sharing is not permitted with someone from outside your household or your support bubble unless your journey is undertaken for an exempt reason. For example, if car sharing is reasonably necessary as part of your work.”

You should take specific attention of the section relating to restrictions on Car Sharinghttps://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-safer-travel-guidance-for-passengers#private-cars-and-other-vehicles and Private Hire vehicles https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-safer-travel-guidance-for-passengers#taxis-and-private-hire-vehicles

Clubs must consider if they meet the travel for work exemption. This was available as a policy for all clubs at Steps 3-6 for league fixtures and FA competitions. As the season has been curtailed for league fixtures this universal policy does not now apply for all fixtures except those in FA Competitions. Therefore, for friendlies clubs must be confident on a case by case basis that they meet the ‘for work’ definitions outlined in the guidance.

Many thanks,

FA National League System Team
