Balham 6-1 Tooting Bec

Pre-season friendly – 8th August

Match Summary from Balham FC

Centre forward, Cameron Gordon, who signed for Balham towards the end of last season, stole the show in the annual Northern Line derby, with a superbly executed hat trick.

This was a very good all round performance however, from those who started and from those who entered the fray at half time or beyond. Tooting Bec are no mugs and you have to have played well to put six past them. Balham’s other goals came from Khalid Savage and second half substitutes, Tom Read and James Adebayo.

New signing Bakari Sincalir-Smith, whose tackles certainly bite, slotted well into midfield and trialist keeper Aaron McGuigan, who played the second half, as he did last week, had a strong presence and authority.

It’s still very early days, even in pre season, but the good work started last Saturday was built upon this week, on a big pitch, which was hard on the legs, in thirty-two degrees of South London heat.
