Hollands & Blair shocked the World when signing Danny Kedwell this week and it was of no surprise that the hitman got off the mark in his first game as Blair hosted Rusthall at Star Meadow. Kedwell’s header followed a Connor Heffernan strike as the home side ran out 2-0 winners over the Rustics.
Gary Alexander’s Glebe side gave him the perfect birthday present – a strong performance and a 2-1 win over East Grinstead Town. The Foxes goals came either side of the break with Connor Pring smashing home from distance and Jamie Philpot coolly slotting home a Frankie Sawyer pass giving Glebe a come-from-behind victory over their higher level opponents.
In other games against teams from above a trio of our sides suffered narrow 3-2 defeats. Rochester United against Faversham Town, Beckenham Town v Cray Wanderers and Tower Hamlets against Herne Bay, all went the way of the Isthmain League sides, just.
Not feeling too inventive so flying down our list in alphabetical order, AFC Croydon drew 1-1 at home to Westside FC, Sheppey United were beaten by Ashford United 2-1 and Bearsted won an all-SCEFL clash with Forest Hill Park 3-1.
Martin Smith scored a hat-trick as Croydon returned from Badshot Lea as 3-0 winners. A free-kick and penalty were followed by a ‘goal of the season’ contender as the Trams continued their steady improvement ahead of the First Division season.
Bridon Ropes lost 4-2 to Tudor Sports, Lydd Town beat Deal Town Rangers 3-2 and Sutton Athletic drew 2-2 at Farnborough Old Boys Guild.
Louie Clarke was on target again for Corinthian, in a 3-0 win over AFC Uckfield, Steven Karkari netted for FC Elmstead, in a 4-1 defeat against Lopes Tavares and Lewis Francis scored for a Fisher side that drew 2-2 at home to Saffron Walden Town. That one was live streamed to the fans again and showed a game of two halves – with the Fish a couple up at the break before the visitors came back strong.
There were two 5-1 wins for First Division sides over Kent County opposition. Greenways beat familiar faces at Larkfield + New Hythe Wanderers by that scoreline with Simon Walton grabbing a brace, and Jack Jeffrey, Farai Maganga and Ross Murphy also bagging. Holmesdale meanwhile welcomed Halls AFC and saw them off 5-1. Ola Rabiu with two for the Dale with Tom Austin, Jordan Eels and Nathan Palmer with the rest.
There were defeats for K Sports at Borden Village and Welling Town at Kings Hill but Kent Football United came out on top against Sporting Hackney 3-1 while Erith & Belvedere came back from 3-1 down to Phoenix Sports to finish up at 3-3.
A Brad Webb effort was the only goal of the game as Snodland Town upset Crowborough Athletic. Canterbury City narrowly came off second best at former SCEFL Champions Sevenoaks Town and Stansfeld drew 0-0 with Erith Town. They even tried to find a winner on penalties in that one but gave up with the score at 9-9 with every player having a go from the spot.
Late results to come in were a 2-0 win for Lordswood at Meridian VP and a 3-2 defeat for Punjab United against Sporting Khalsa.
Unfortunately, once again, all games were played ‘Behind Closed Doors’ with no fans allowed to attend. We hope to have some positive news on that regard this week and support the #LetFansIn campaign that has been gaining traction in recent days.

A strong performance and more minutes in the bank for the Spartans. Unfortunate to let a 2-1 lead slip but the fight we showed is a credit to the hard work that has been put in over the last few weeks. #UpTheSpartans
All done here @snodlandtownfc and we go down by the odd goal. Good run out for the whole squad, one disallowed, missed a pen, usual stuff! On to the next game and thanks to @snodlandtownfc for their covid-limited hospitality.
