There were 39 goals across the 10 games in the Premier Division today with all 4 title contenders winning but at the bottom end defeat for Croydon meant that they will be playing their football at Step 6 next season.
The Trams started well in their game at fellow relegation-threatened Rusthall, taking the lead in just the 2nd minute through Tunde Olowabi. The hosts quickly hit back though when James Miles scored but Croydon were soon ahead again and held the lead to the break. Around the hour mark Reuel Powell-Downey hit a quickfire double to put the Rustics in front, Kassim Sandah levelled but then Nordirbek Bobomurodov sealed the win for Rusthall. They will fight for survival against Punjab United and Hollands & Blair but for Croydon, their time is over. Blair are looking likely to remain in this Division after returning from the Culverden stadium with maximum points thanks to a 4-0 win. A first half double from Rob Denness set them on their way before Justin Ascheri and and Harry Dawes completed the rout late on. They may now even catch Tunbridge Wells who appear to be looking forward to the season ending. Punjab United also done their chances of staying up no harm when beating their old friends and rivals K Sports 3-1 at the Elite Venue. George Goodwin, Anthony Adesite and WIll Johnson-Cole with the goals for the hosts as the scoresheet reminded us of the clubs heroics from last year.
Corinthian remain top of the Division after handing Sheppey United their 5th consecutive loss in a 5-star display. Emmanuel Oloyede hit a double for the Hoops as they maintain their narrow lead out in front thanks to a 5-0 win. Fisher will be pleased to still be the side in second place as a taking points from Canterbury City is never an easy thing to do. Chandler Kasai got the only goal of the game as his side won for the 6th League game in a row to keep the pressure on the Leaders. Cray Valley PM had to come from behind to get past Crowborough Athletic 2-1 at Badger Sports with all three goals coming in an exciting 8-minute section of the second half. Max Carbone had given the Crows the lead on the hour mark before Anthony Edgar and Chris Saunders fired the Millers into the lead which they kept until the final whistle. Chatham Town still have title winning hopes but Glebe came close to ending them as the hosts narrowly lost out in a 5-goal thriller at Foxbury. A double from Paul Vines helped the ‘Chats’ to the win which keeps their treble winning dreams alive. It was a first defeat in 9 for Glebe but they still remain in the hunt for a top 6 finish. Also in that race are Lordswood and Deal Town who drew 3-3 today in a classic at Martyn Grove while Erith Town will have their eyes on that prize thanks to a 2-0 win at AFC Croydon Athletic.
Elsewhere Beckenham Town and Bearsted played out a goalless game for the first 90 minutes before each scoring deep into injury time to share the points at Eden Park Avenue.

For the first time this season there is a team at the top of the First Division Table that are not called Welling Town. A 2-0 win for Bridon Ropes at Snodland Town means that it is they that have taken over top spot and with just 4 games to go. Second half goals from Henry Dasofunjo and Nathan Simpson earned the points for Bridon while defeat for Rochester keeps them perilously close to the drop zone.
The big game of the day went the way of Kennington despite the majority of Instagram predictors feeling that Erith & Belvedere would win their match-up at Homelands. A Sam Brown goal sandwiched between two Gary Lockyer strikes saw the hosts race into a 3-goal lead which despite a Kameiko Pope-Campbell consolation effort meant that Kennington took the points that puts them level with today’s opponents in the table. The biggest winners of the afternoon were Sutton Athletic who swept aside Greenways 6-0 at Cobdown to remain in the promotion fight. Chris McGinty, James Sutherland x2, Tom Hammond, Conor Evans and Arlie Desanges all netted for the visitors on a great afternoon for the club.
The big relegation 6-pointer went the way of Meridian VP as the edged Phoenix Sports Reserves 2-1 in a nervy encounter. New signing Dewain West hit a double with the second of those coming late in the game after Macey Malyon had earlier levelled for Phoenix. Meridian are still bottom of the pile but are now within touching distance of safety.
SC Thamesmead done their manager proud by putting in a professional performance to take the win at home to Lewisham Borough. Jed Smith and Merrick Simms put the Acre 2-0 up before Omari Hibbert set up a tense last 10 minutes with his goal for the visitors. The Acre held on though and now go into their final 6 games in 9th place. One position below them are FC Elmstead, who shot into the top ten thanks to a 3-1 win at Snodland Town. Alvin Turyatemba, Ennio Gonnella and Steven Koukari with the goals for Elmstead as their unbeaten run extended to 5 games.
It has been an impressive Season from Forest Hill Park, a best ever in fact, as the 3 points earned today at home to Lydd Town mean they are have passed their best total from previous SCEFL campaigns. Today’s 3-1 win came with goals from Ishmail Ishmail, Tim Beckford and Akin Lawal and now their targets may possibly change to include an attempt of a top 6 finish. Holmesdale will try to fight them off though but defeat at Kent Football United today hasn’t helped with that cause. Alim Sesay scored the only goal of the game at the Glentworth to move his side into 12th and keep this young Holmesdale side looking nervously over their shoulder as the Forest closes in.

There were 4 games on this Wednesday night in 2016 with Canterbury coming away the biggest winners following a 6-0 success against Holmesdale.
Jordan Casey scored twice for City with James Bosio, Rob Lawrence, Dave Pilcher and Dominic Snee getting the others.
The other 3 games all finished level with Paul Booth earning Ashford United a point at Beckenham thanks to a late double, Luke Tanner netting twice in a Corinthian draw at Croydon and nobody managing to get on the scoresheet in the match between Cray Valley and Tunbridge Wells.

A busy Bank Holiday Monday in 2015 only gave us 4 winners with Corinthian and Ashford United the clearest victors on the day.
There was 4 different scorers for Ashford at home to Woodstock Sports while Jack Mahoney got 2 of Corinthian’s 5 second half goals away at Lingfield.
Lee Scott and Kristin Gregory were on target for Deal Town at Lordswood and Hamid Bangura scored a 93rd minute winner for Croydon at home to Greenwich Borough.
Among those to draw today were Crowborough Athletic after Callum Ridley equalised Aaron Jeffery’s early opener for league leaders Phoenix Sports.
