Lydd Town are ready to push ‘full steam ahead’
Lydd Town are ‘moving forward nicely’, according to First Team Manager Mickey Doyle, with the club looking forward to hearing
of a season start date.
Speaking to the Club website Doyle spoke of unusual pre-season preparations but how him and his backroom team are getting through it.
“It’s not been ideal as Justin and I worked on a full preseason plan in February/March time, to ensure we were well prepared going into my first full season in charge. We have had to adapt things and move in a different direction due to the unforeseen pandemic. It’s been different, Justin and I have been in regular contact and he has been excellent in these challenging times. I’m in regular contact with the lads to firstly make sure they are safe and well. Secondly to catch up with them as they have fitness programmes to follow to keep them ticking over while we wait for a start date. It’s just a case of waiting on the league, FA and government to give us a start date so we can get going properly and start pushing full steam ahead.”
“I talk to the chairman and some of the committee members on a regular basis. They have informed me of what they have been doing, regarding off the field stuff. The club is moving forward nicely. We have got a grant for pitch improvements that will ensure the pitch is maintained to the high standards we already set ourselves and I know the ground staff have been working all through the lockdown. So a huge thank you to them, as we will have a superb pitch once again. We have a few other things being worked on behind the scenes and I’m sure they will be published once they are ready.”
The boss also gave an insight into how the squad is shaping.
“I’ve been in constant contact with all the players from last season. They know what I expect going forward. I’ve spoken to a few potential new signings of course, but I will keep things close to my chest for now until the time is right. The group from last season has potential and are a good group to work with but we need to strengthen certain areas and to improve competition for places.”
