Kennington announce Retained List

Kennington have retained 17 of last season’s squad as they will once one again look to launch an assault on the promotion places in the First Division.

Ton were top of the SCEFL Division One table when last season was curtailed early and were on target for a promotion berth, alongside experiencing great runs in both the SCEFL Challenge Cup and their first year in the FA Vase.

“We’ll definitely see two or three fresh faces coming in as well, and I’m look forward to getting them involved when we return.”

DAN SCORER

Now the majority of 2019/20’s squad have put pen-to-paper, with only Sam Brown (work commitments), Sam Conlon and Tad Greenfield (both retired) the notable absentees.

The full retained list is as follows:

Joe Mant
Harry Stow
Luke Hughes
Adam Phillips
Regan Mendes
Calvin Sedenu
Reiss Crimmen
Charlie Owen
Joe Fisher
Harry Lavender
Gary Clarke
Craig Calvert
Tom Scorer
James Haylock-Ashdown
Ryan Philpott
George Latham
Gary Lockyer

“I’m delighted to have retained so many of last seasons squad”, boss Scorer said. “We have a very strong core that have progressed with me over the past few seasons and we added to that really well throughout last season.

“It makes preparations for next season a lot easier and I’m looking forward to starting with this group of players from the off.

“We’ll definitely see two or three fresh faces coming in as well, and I’m look forward to getting them involved when we return.”

Talisman striker, Gary Lockyer, added: “I feel like I have so much more to give for the club – and it’s a special club, where I started out as a youth player.

“We have a great management set up, a top group of lads and our supporters are brilliant.

“A lot of people wrote me off last season, including myself, but I’m hungrier than ever, and want to bring success to the club.”

Midfielder, Craig Calvert – who re-signed from local rivals Lydd Town last season – believes the club is now set-up for bigger things, and a case of unfinished business:

“Since I came back, I’m back loving the game. There is so much talent in the dressing room with strong competition for places.

“Like a few of the boys, I’ve been at the club throughout the majority of my youth and seen how it’s progressed under Dan and everyone at the club behind the scenes.

“With the group we have and the prospect of a few new faces, we’ve got to be aiming to be pushing for the title again this year.”
We had previously revealed the side would be captained by Gary Clarke, with Calvin Sedenu as vice captain.
