All at the SCEFL wish to pass on our condolences to the family and friends of Southern Sunday Football League Life Vice President Graham Dodd who passed away this morning.
Graham served the SSFL as registrations secretary for 39 years and also was Club Secretary for Portland FC for decades.
A League Statement read:
It is with deep regret and extreme sadness that I have to inform you that our Life Vice President Graham Dodd sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning (4th June) aged 83.
Graham is not only a SSFL Legend but he is simply a football legend. Graham took up the role of registrations secretary for the SSFL in 1975 and retired from the role in 2014 after a staggering 39 years service. As a result of his tremendous contribution to the league, Graham was made a Life Vice-President and in addition, the Premier Division was named the Graham Dodd Premier Division as a mark of respect.
Throughout his association with the SSFL, Graham ran a very successful Portland FC team and only in the last few years did he step back from his role as club secretary after a couple of decades at the helm. Graham turned out a staggering 883 times as a player, a truly remarkable stat for a truly remarkable man. Portland are still going strong and currently play in the Orpington and Bromley District Sunday Football League.
This news is of course devastating for Graham’s family and friends and in particular his daughter Lorraine who also suffered the loss of her mumlast July. I have spoken with Lorraine on the telephone this morning and have offered my full support and anything that she needs on behalf of the SSFL family.
Once the date of his funeral is known then I will update you accordingly. I am able to confirm today that the funeral will be a cremation and will be held at Beckenham Crematorium so that Graham can rest in peace with his wife Pat.
Mr Graham Rodber
