Beckenham Town have lauched a ‘Go Fund Me’ page after the early end to the season caused huge damage to their finances.
Their appeal reads;
Originally formed in 1887, Beckenham Town Football Club have been part of the local community for over 130 years. The FA’s decision to bring the 2019-2020 SCEFL Premier Division season to a premature end due to the Coronavirus pandemic has hit the club extremely hard. At a stroke our income streams from Matchday Revenue, Venue Hire and Pitch Hire vanished.
The FA’s decision has no doubt left many non-league clubs fighting for their very existence, grappling with the huge financial impact both now and in years to come. We are no different. Our last home game at Eden Park Avenue was on March 3rd 2020. The lost income leaves the club short of the funds needed for essential ground and facilities maintenance and the improvement of our award winning pitch. Work includes improving spectator facilities such as replacement of floors in both seated stands, improving both the indoor and outdoor toilets, renovation of the clubhouse including boardroom facilities for visiting club officials, as well as upgrading player and match officials facilities such replacement flooring and showers in dressing rooms.
As a consequence we are appealing for the kindness and generosity of our local community to help the club survive this challenging period in its history. Any donation, however large or small will be hugely appreciated and be used directly to sustain the club and ensure its survival into next season and beyond.
Stay safe, follow official advice and look after one another. We hope to see as many of you as possible when this is all over and football finally returns to Eden Park Avenue.
