SCEFL First Division
Things are getting tight at the top of the First Division now with the first 5 sides now seperated by just 4 points. Kennington, Rusthall, FC Elmstead and Rusthall all won today and alongside Rochester United the five of them have opened up a small gap on the rest.
Kennington once again top the lot after coming out as narrow victors against Sutton Athletic at Homelands. An early James Haylock-Ashdown goal seperated the sides with the Ton now moving to 5 league wins in a row. Rusthall left it late but are now in second place after beating Bridon Ropes 3-2 in South East London. Reuel Powell-Downey scored the winner for the Rustics after the hosts had earlier levelled each time when going behind. Holmesdale were the biggest winners of the day as they came away from the Ladywell Arena as 5-1 winners. Nathan Palmer claimed a hat-trick alongside goals from Andy Constable and Germaine Jeannoel. It is now 12 league games unbeaten for Lee Roots side while defeat for Lewisham Borough keeps them in 11th. A third win in a row keeps FC Elmstead in the promotion places but they only just got it after a tense battle with Kent Football United. Jordan Samuel and Richard Atkins were on target for Elmstead with David Olayokun keeping it close for the visitors.
Lydd Town continued their recent revival with an impressive 4-2 home win over Greenways. Despite going 2-0 down the hosts won the game with goals from Bradley Baker, Ryan Smith, an own goal and Dale Horton.
In a game between two sides in the bottom four Snodland Town and Meridian VP shared the points following a 1-1 draw. Both goals came early in the game with the point earned ending losing runs for each side.
