The sun shone brightly today, providing our SCEFL sides with tough conditions to continue their 2021/22 season preparations.
Glebe dealt with the heat superbly, as they comfortably beat Isthmian South East side East Grinstead Town 6-0 at Foxbury.
Dami Olorunnisomo, Ryan King-Elliot, Helge Orome, Jamie Philpot, Charlie Penny and Lauris Chin all scored against their Step 4 opponents confirming that it is no longer a secret, Glebe are genuine title contenders.
The same could be said for Deal Town. They also hit six today, with Harry Alexander, Billy Munday, Kieron Jones and Jack Paxman all on target for the Hoops at home to Lydd Town.
In terms of goals scored, Erith Town went one better than both of those Premier Division rivals and scored 7 in their hastily arranged friendly with Forest Hill Park.
Fred Obasa scored twice, as did Michael Power – including one from the halfway line! Harry Gamble, Jude Jeffries and Alfie Eldridge got the others.
Welling Town also scored 7, in their comfortable win against Chipstead.
Taylor Robinson hit a hat-trick for The Boots, with Billy Muckle, Carl Oblitey, Richard Jimoh and Ollie Bennett each grabbing a goal.
Punjab United were another SCEFL side to score 7 today.
On a day out to Smethwick, Will Johnson Cole and Harry Main notched twice while Stephen Ratcliff, Chandler Kasai and Shoaib Ashraf shared the rest.
Croydon put on an impressive display at Jockey Farm as they beat former First Division rivals Rusthall 4-1.
Richard Pingling scored a hat-trick for the Trams, after they went behind to an early Luke Adams opener.
Another all-SCEFL clash came at the sun-drenched Taray Group Community Stadium.
Larkfield & New Hythe almost held Tunbridge Wells to a draw but the visitors nicked it late with the only goal of the game.
Other Premier v First Division games saw Meridian VP beat Lordswood 2-0 and Tower Hamlets edge out Lewisham Borough 2-1.
There were victories for former SCEFL sides against our current crop as AFC Croydon beat K Sports 4-2 and Beckenham Town were 2-0 victors at home to Hollands & Blair.
Crowborough Athletic ‘absolutely worked their socks off’ to beat Haywards Heath Town 1-0.
Rhys Bartlett got that only goal as the Crows ‘young, well organised side’ put on a ‘great performance’ – according to the clubs Twitter account. It was certainly a great result against higher level opponents.
The pitch looked poor but the performance looked good from Sheppey United in a 2-1 win at Faversham Town.
Jack Midson and Billy Bennett got the goals for the Ites with former Golden Boot winner Harry Harding heading home for the hosts.
Charlie Hackshall and Owen Punselie kept Holmesdale’s unbeaten pre-season run going as they won 2-1 at Otford United.
Fisher drew with Sporting Hackney and Chatham Town also shared the spoils, with a young Bromley side in a morning kick-off at Hayes Lane – Dan Bradshaw scored a first half brace for the Chats.
A VCD Athletic under 23 side got a win against Kent Football United and Sutton Athletic drew 0-0 with Corinthian u23s, while the Phoenix Sports first team proved to be too much for SC Thamesmead.
Tom Axford, Tom Gates and Aaron Lorentson were on target in a win for Faversham Strike Force and Rochester United collected a 3-0 victory but Staplehurst Monarchs failed to find the net in a loss at Sturry.
